The weather's changing [about time] and my throat feels dry and sandpapery, but I won't give up on my daily bottle of Coke. Also, shopping for girls' presents is a frustrating job and I am not cut out for it. Bleh, on to the good stuff..

Very small update of just two things: a blanket and pillow to place on your patios. Meshes by 8-3 studio included. Comment away!

There is always a bunch of things I seem to like at a particular point in time - be it a week or two weeks, maybe longer. Yes, I go through phases. It is only fitting that there should be some not-so-frequent posts about these obsessions.

book. Margaret Atwood's Moral Disorder has to be the best book I have read this year. She has a really cool, detached yet benign/soft way of writing about her characters.

FF theme. I should probably become a salesman for Firefox; it is my favorite browser and I keep raving about it. This theme just made it 10 times sweeter to look at [still haven't given up on sweet ;)]

music. Band of Horses makes wicked indie whiney music. They have great vocals with sublime music, and this is my current favorite song.

check out 1, 2, and 3.

things to come

Let's face it - polaroids have to be the sweetest invention period. By extension, Holga cameras are the shizz... and I love everything about them. The beautiful thing about stalking design blogs diligently is that you almost always come across a thing or two to stick on the wall, or even resources for other textures. Isn't art sweet? [yes sweet is the word of the day]
This work in progress includes a bunch of polaroids that you can cover all your effing walls with [who needs to see that wallpaper anyway ]. I think these should take at most a week, maybe two.

New Simcredible set! Not the easiest to recolor, mind you. Even though I suck at making shadows by way of shading in Photoshop, I don't like the idea of a recolor compromising on the quality of the original. The sofa pillow sucks right now, and the texture's a little wonky in places - but that's nothing that can not be fixed!

Happy birthday mom! It's her birthday today i.e. the 25th of October! I think my sister and I will take her out for brunch or something. ILY mom, and I hope you have many more.

Elsa

Elsa, 21, lives at the edge of the woods. Very frequently woodland creatures wander into her backyard. Elsa is not afraid of them; gestures of kindness are her thing. A particular fawn, separated from its clan, lives in the peripharies of the woods and often comes to Elsa's for a few leftover scraps. "I call it Holiday," explains Elsa "because it showed up on Labour Day a few months back."

Her friends, the few she does have, are of the opinion that Elsa was born in the wrong century. With her love for old tapestries, Baroque art, vintage cookbooks and clips, Elsa knows her aesthetics. That does not mean that she is a boring old soul - in fact, quite the opposite. "She's quietly interesting," said one of her friends. "I don't know how else to put it.. because she is so quiet most of the time, yet you're hardly bored when you spend time with her."

She has a habit of cutting things out of art magazines, fiction or basically anywhere; her eye has a knack for catching little details hidden in the text.
"We tease her about it," says Jeremy, Elsa's classmate and friend, talking about what he calls Elsa's 'ransom note' habit: "See, it's like this. She cuts the hell out of every publication that makes its way into her house and hands. Then she saves the tattered remains; but what's creepy is how she pieces together words and pictures into montages on her scrapbooks and walls."
"Jeremy's exaggerating, of course." Savannah, another friend, cuts in. "It's actually quite brilliant, what Elsa does. She cuts things out and puts them together in such a way that everything fits into place. The end result's always so pretty. I think it has to do with her aesthetic sense and her love for literature."
"I think it has to do with her creepiness!" Jeremy shuts up after Savannah punches him.

[I had nothing else to do, so I wrote this lame ass narrative-thing. Don't hate me yet; given the state of things there's probably more to come. :p]
