![]() A glitchy creation is like a crazy sim*. They may look fine when seen from a distance, and that too in daylight. Chopping up trees, minding their own business. But come night-time, and the shadows make it hard for you to see very well. You step closer, only to notice the jagged textures and the pixelated badness. ![]() Before you know it, you're face to face with her. Only then do you realize it's a trap... axes and pretty girls are just not a normal combination. Oh well, at least she's a nuanced killer, so it shouldn't hurt much... ![]() Confused? What we have here is an account of my feeble attempt at trying to create a Sims 2 skin, infused with some dark humor. This 'attempt' was made with combinations of Maxis textures and a photo**. I got the shading and position of the texture right for the most part, but it seems like I fudged the alpha up - not a surprise since it was the first time I worked on one anyway. Unless I keep trying and get better at this, I think I'm better off making simple object recolors - a single PNG compared to three large BMPs for a skin, each of which must coincide. Pfft. * no offence to crazy sims. ** credit to palmercash Labels: annoyance, non-download, picture story leave a comment? (

I moved house over the last week, and majorly over this weekend. Somehow, during the move or before, my hard drive crashed and I did not back up anything a. because I am lazy and b. backing up is a hassle. I do miss a lot of my old stuff, especially all the things that I had made and was yet to share with everyone. :([especially this 1x1 tiny apartment building that I worked really hard on and finished two nights before the boomcrashbang, and some rugs, and..things] Sighh... BUT on the plus side this is a new start. I do love how fast a PC runs when you erase all traces of the old junk that used to be on it once. What I do not love is missing all that junk and rebuilding it piece by little piece. x Labels: annoyance, i have a life outside the sims Monday, November 23, 2009
While I was making recolors for 8-3 studio's girl room set a month ago, I decided to make some for the Blythe doll box as well. Since I used to [used to being the operative word here] think these toys were pretty fucking awesome, I made some uglydoll boxes. After I was done, I remembered how nixy had made an enormous set of uglydolls in various positions. And it was brilliant. ![]() So I went to nixy's site to find a link to that post, just so people could have the boxes and the dolls together in their game if they wanted. That is when I found out how the company responded to the meshes. I was excited about the whole uglydolls-coming-into-the-sims-2 business, but the company's reaction pretty much changes everything. Because I'm not sharing these anymore, this might be a useless rant to some, obsessive/pointless blogging to others. But it's my opinion, and share it I must. nixy I still think your dolls were awesome. Labels: annoyance |
